Celebrate Locally Grown on September 17th!

The Iowa County Women, Land and Legacy (WLL) planning committee is happy to announce an Open House Event at Fireside Winery located at 1755 P Ave., Marengo on Tuesday, September 17th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. This event is dedicated to “Celebrating Locally Grown” businesses tied to agriculture. Information and samples from various local businesses that reflect the entrepreneurial spirit of women in agriculture will be available.

The evening will provide an opportunity to learn more about the success story behind Fireside Winery, with tours hosted by WLL member Rona Wyant, owner/manager of the Fireside Winery. Tours are scheduled for 5:30, 6:15 and 7:00 pm. A $5/person cover charge at the door entitles you to snacks and hors d’oeuvres, along with wine tasting and samples from other local businesses. All attendees will be eligible for door prize drawings throughout the night.

Participating local businesses include, but are not limited to:

Millstream Brewery – specialty beers and root beer
Roehrkasses Meats – meats, including beef, pork, lamb and goat
Hillside Market – fresh fruits and vegetables
Genoa Bluffs Pumpkin Farm – seasonal corn maze, pumpkins
Nielson’s Honey Farm – honey products
Grimm Family Farms – chickens, black beans, and produce
RS Welding Studio – unique metal artwork
Northern Ridge Berry Farm – tomatoes, berries, pies, jams
Walking Stick Adventures – local nature tours

The open house format and casual atmosphere of this event are perfect for a relaxing evening to network with other women tied to agriculture and learn about WLL and small businesses in our area. Bring a friend or a spouse! Whether you are looking for information or just coming to hangout, our participating local businesses are sure to have something for everyone to enjoy.

Over the past few years, Iowa County Women Land and Legacy continues to support women tied to agriculture and the land. Past events have included educational seminars on topics ranging from estate planning to conservation programs and grain marketing.
